Managing people can be difficult at the best of times but doing so in this new virtual world we are now operating in brings with it a unique set of challenges.

Come join us for this interactive session on ‘How to Effectively Manage Teams Remotely’ where we will be exploring some of the very real challenges and perceived barriers of supporting and managing a virtual team.

With working from home having become the new norm over the last 15 or so months, we could all be forgiven for not wanting to turn on our cameras during team meetings or for 1-2-1s. Studies have indicated that between ’70 to 93% of our communication is non-verbal’*. So next time you are thinking of pressing the ‘camera off’ button, think twice! Switching on your camera and encouraging team members to do the same will ‘make communicating remotely seem just a little bit more human’* and will significantly help you as a Manager in picking up on the general mood, engagement levels and even the well-being of your team members.

This session will:

  • Provide you with many more hints, tips and tools on how to better navigate managing a virtual team.
  • Give you the opportunity to collaborate as a group and share your own observations, experiences and learnings.
  • Sign post you to external resources where you can go for further guidance and support on this topic.

The primary aim of this session is to broaden your mindset and to challenge you to consciously think about the approach you are taking as a Manager. By being more deliberate and mindful about your actions and impact, you will be well on your way to building a more collaborative, high performing and ultimately happier team.

About the Speaker

Emily Kumar

Emily is a well seasoned and internationally focussed HR professional who has been working in the corporate world for the last 13+ years. Her credentials include being CIPD (UK) qualified and Mental Health First Aider (UK) certified. Her background is in Professional Services where her primary focus has been on providing advisory, coaching and business partnering support to Senior Leaders and People Managers. Emily is passionate about the importance and value in fostering collaborative, diverse, open and inclusive working environments and this plays a critical role in the approach and style she takes as a HR leader.
