What do you do for a living?

I am a certified functional medicine health coach and personal trainer, I founded Jo Brownlow Holistic Health to help people find a better health/life/work balance.

Why did you join PrimeTime, and how long have you been a member?

When I was looking to set up my company back in October, a close friend recommended I join. She said that it was a great community for networking and learning from other professional women here in Singapore. Not only was she right, but I simply love the can-do attitude, amazing energy, and genuine warmth shown by everyone.

What do you love about Singapore?

From the food to the weather (rainy season aside, obviously) and the ease of getting around (either locally or overseas), Singapore is great. As a mother, it also gives me peace of mind to know that my two boys can travel independently from a young age, allowing them to embrace their sense of independence, safely and securely.

What is your favorite travel destination and what’s next on your list?

Cambodia, Thailand, Australia...I could go on. It’s funny how that, even being here so many years, my family and I are always spoilt for choice as to where to visit next in Asia.

How do you define success?

For me, success is helping someone on a path towards a healthier, happier life. It fills me with a huge sense of pride and joy, every single time.

What is your greatest accomplishment?

On a personal level, it would have to be overcoming the supposed chaos of work, family, and life without resorting to opening a bottle of wine or packet of M&S crisps. By choosing a different path, one paved with mindful practices, exercise, and nourishing foods, I have not only reshaped my well-being but empowered me to embrace challenges head on, rather than shy away.

Who inspires you?

If I had to pinpoint someone, it would be Dr Rangan Chatterjee, who is a British doctor who hosts the podcast, Feel Better, Live more.  His passion for educating and inspiring people to learn how to live healthy happy lives has always resonated with me. I find his example incredibly motivating, and I forward his podcasts continuously to my clients!

What is the last book you read?

Currently, I'm thoroughly enjoying 'All My Mothers' by Joanna Glenn.

What is your favorite quote?

I’m always drawn to quotes that inspire the next generation of women. Currently, two quotes resonate deeply with me: Ayn Rand’s (writer) powerful declaration, 'The question isn’t who’s going to let me, it’s who’s going to stop me,' and Sheryl Sandberg’s  (Meta PLatforms) recent encouragement, 'I want every little girl who’s told she’s bossy to be told instead that she has leadership skills’.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I love leisurely walks and treasured moments with my family to the exuberance of singing (which might be a tad overwhelming for my loved ones), and embracing every chance to travel that comes my way.

What advice would you give to your 10-year-old self?

It would be to take better care of yourself and heed the wisdom of your parents.

Why should women become a member of PrimeTime?

Becoming a part of a community that empowers women to reach their true potential not only uplifts one's spirits but also offers invaluable support during life's challenges.
